Ball/sphere cake - yikes!

Lovely bakers - am attempting cinderella's carriage (can hear tomorrow's hindsight laughing at me already). I have half a sphere tin. Am thinking Nigella's buttermilk birthday cake recipe has served me well in the past and will probably hold up ok if I sandwhich two halves together? Having small panic now though - am I meant to freeze crumb coating/ganache/do any other sort of other jedi cake tricks in order to keep it from collapsing on itself? I'm covering it in fondant. I hope.....

Any expert advice greatly appreciated. Thank you

I've done this plenty. No tricks needed. Just maybe make sure it is sandwiched together properly.

Thanks so much - here's hoping.....!

Please post back if it works! I'm attempting a spherical cake using Lakeland's large hemisphere tin but failing miserably at getting the cake mixture cooked in the middle.

Spherical tins are tricky on cooking times, but once baked it will be fine - just anchor it down so the bloody thing doesn't roll off the board (or, in the case of the disco ball, off the top of a 2 tier cake....)

Just double-checked forums and they agree with what I vaguely recalled - long low temperature bake with a tin of water in the bottom of the oven (basically as you would for a very much larger cake)
