Multicookers

Any comments? DH bought a rice cooker a few months ago but the non-stick coating is coming off so we can't use it any more. Was considering getting a multicooker. Already have just about every gadget under the sun so was wondering whether it is worthwhile getting one of these. I've been looking at the Tefal multicooker but don't much like non-stick coatings. Is this one likely to last to make it worthwhile the price?

I have the Sage (Heston Blummenthal) Multi Cooker.
www.amazon.co.uk/Sage-Heston-Blumenthal-Multi-Cooker/dp/B00CI32Y5Q

It was expensive but the bowl has a really thin non-stick coating which has a few scratches on it even though it is rarely used and I have been extremely careful (only use wooedn/silicone utensils and handwash gently)

The rice it cooks has been very dry even when I have added extra water and I don't like how the slow cooker is so wet - stews seem greasy. It also does not keep the food very hot when on "keep warm".I end up decanting it into a pot on the hob or having to use the saute button on the multicooker to get it piping hot. The only thing I use it for now is Pork Pibil (a kind of pulled pork) and even then use the oven to dry out the meat a bit at the end.

I have been disappointed by it.

Thanks, that's very useful. I've always wondered about the Sage products.

Look up the InstantPot on Amazon. T'is amazing. Stainless steel pot, so no evil non--stick lining to chip off into your food. It's a rice-cooker, pressure cooker, slow cooker, is completely programmable or has a variety of pre-sets programmes, automatic keep warm facility... It's great!
