I have been looking through some of the other threads in this discussion area which have been helpful, but could still do with more ideas. Am new and am very impressed with you knowledgeable lot on here.

Ds age 16 months goes to childminder 3 days / wk. He always has a jar of food + fruit or fruit puree + yogurt + ricecakes or similar for lunch / snacks. He must be bored rigid poor tyke!!

Will eat finger food and sandwiches, but never consumes much that way. Spends too much time chewing! Would prefer to replace jars, but has to be portable and not require much preparation.

Any ideas very welcome.

hi, how far away is the chidminder? Is it out of the question to make up a dinner in an air tight container to be used at child minders? Or buy childminder some bits to put in her fridge for your ds? Depending on what he like.

My ds like all sorts for lunch ranging from mashed potato with cheese (easy to make and reheat), toast, cheese sticks, bread sticks, raisins, apricots, micro chips!!, pasta, cheesy brocoli. He loves party foods such as quiche, sausage rolls even though he makes a right mess!

Can you make extra night dinner that you know he like and save some in a tub, either for next day, or to be frozen and used later. Cm could microwave to heat up. Lots of things work well- sausage& mash( that's what mine's is getting for tomorrow)home-made soup/ casseroley things. Must admit, always do the frui/yogurt thing too, altho' sometimes put in indiv. cheesecake/ trifle for a change

ds is 21 months almost...he usually has sandwiches of some sort - cheese and tomato, tuna and cucumber, ham (bit naughty as a bit salty). Occasionally has beans on toast if in huge hurry! He also take 'leftovers' which I stick in fridge or freezer...spaghetti bolagnese or lasagne - childminder whacks it in the microwave and lets it cool. Shepherd's pie......stuff like that which are easy to reheat.

He also loves to take dried apricots and raisins (though someone recently told me they are bad for his teeth...better than chocolate though?!?!), cherry tomatoes (which he adores and could eat a whole carton of them), apple, banana. Also enjoys breads cut up into 'soldiers' with bits of chicken, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and maybe even a small amount of houmous (occasionally homemade so less salty)
As a special treat he may get some organix 'crisps' which he loves.

Mini pizzas - buy ready to roll puff pastry then spread tomato puree of heat and 'thicken' tinned tomatoes then add whaever topping and cook for 15 mins.....can be eaten cold if you choose toppings carefully

Thanks for suggestions - like sausage & mash idea. When making homemade have tended to stick with cheesy mash etc as a bit worried about the reheating side with meat etc.

Popsycal - from my own perspective I think a spellchequer would be a good idea
