how to cook chilli for a toddler as well as us??

Am planning on making chilli con carne and rice for tea tonight but want to serve it up for my 17mth DD as well, what do i do re chilli pwder?? Just add it at the end?? (DH likes it hot)

Any thoughts

yes could always take out your DD's portion first.

Tabasco is quite handy as the heat is instant and mixes quickly if you have any.

I make up the mince/kidney beans/onions/tomatoes/etc first then take out DD's portion before adding the chilli's/chilli powder. Then leave the "grown - up" version to gently bubble away in all it's spicy - ness and DD's to cook through 'til we're ready to munch !!

We have this problem as DH and I like ours really hot. Cook the mince, garlic, cumin, onions, kidney beans and half the tomatoes ..whatever you use. But leave out the chilli. Simmer the other half of the tomatoes with the chilli powder(we use fresh chopped chillies but the principles the same) and perhaps some more garlic. Add this 'rocket booster' to yours and DH's chilli when you serve it up.

Did the rocket booster idea - worked a treat and DD gobbled it up, especially liked the kidney beans
