What's for dinner or tea if you're in the North?

We've got lamb burgers, chips, salad and a rice pudding. Well, I think we're having rice pudding. I don't like it myself so I've never cooked it before but DH and the DC love it, so thought I would give it a go.

So what are you doing?

Chicken korma, wholegrain rice

Hobby2014 · 26/03/2015 17:54

Carbonara here, with garlic bread tut double carbs, I know and salad.

SewingAndCakes · 26/03/2015 17:57

Pasta bake, garlic bread and salad.

bungit.
I boiled some potatoes and I've slow cooked some beef and I chucked in some left over sliced onions, a packet of hand shelled peas (I don't know quite why that is important but since the packet announced it in ten foot high letters, I felt it rude to not mention Grin ), some cherry tomatoes that have been gaining sentience in the back of the fridge and then I picked some spices at random.

and I've been simmering it since two oclock this afternoon.

It'll either be totally delicious or in about 30 minutes I'll be in the car on my way to the chippy.

I'm not in the North, but am a Northener!

We're having Thai curry but Sainsbo's didn't deliver tofu, so we're having it with omelette strips instead.

swooosh · 26/03/2015 18:00

Pesto pasta, grilled chicken and slow roasted balsamic cherry tomatoes.

RatOnnaStick · 26/03/2015 18:00

Steak pie and chips. Kids had fish fingers and mash an hour ago. No inspiration or enthusiasm today.

wonkylegs · 26/03/2015 18:15

Beef Chilli filled Tacos with salad

teacupnic · 26/03/2015 18:18

In my rather sleep deprived state I read this as you only wanting to know what people were eating if they were from the north and was going to ask why.

It's definitely 'tea' here and it's split pea and ham soup. With pitta bread. I can't wait. Am freezing and waiting for heating back on as new boiler being fitted.

chocolateshoes · 26/03/2015 18:29

Salmon with roast tomatoes, fennel & olives, and couscous.

SconessMcFloness · 26/03/2015 19:19

Is this dinner in the south and tea in the north or a thread for northerners.
I'm neither but living in the south...leftover minestrone for family as I am going out for dinner with my girl pals and I refuse to cook...I'm having a night off!

emmelinelucas · 26/03/2015 19:25

mucky fat teacakes

OatcakeCravings · 26/03/2015 19:28

In the actual North of the Uk we are having pizza and salad (and garlic bread but don't like to fess up to the MN double carb sin).

Pantah630 · 26/03/2015 19:29

It's dinner here on the South Coast, we're having the roast chicken with apple spelt that HFW did on Food and Drink a few weeks ago, done it before it's very tasty and easy enough to make after work. Should be ready in a bit, serving with kale, leeks and Jerusalem artichokes from the veg box.....ticking all the MC boxes in one go Grin

losthermind · 26/03/2015 19:30

Steak sarnies, quarter pounders with cheese and onion rings....lemon sponge for afters
Not in the slightest bit healthy but tonight I'm not arsed

TinklyLittleLaugh · 26/03/2015 19:35

In the north, we had homemade chicken curry, rice, naan, poppadoms and chutney. The kids had Tunnocks tea cakes after.

TheHappyCamper · 26/03/2015 19:35

I read this earlier and wondered why you only wanted to know what people in the North were eating, thought it might be to do with the weather today (we've had snow in N Yorks).

I have just realised you mean whether we call it dinner or tea Grin .... is it like that "eats shoots and leaves" thing without commas?

Anyway, for tea, we had turkey jalfrezi and rice, DH also had chips, DD had fish fingers, waffles and peas. We are all ready for term to end here.

Tomorrow is the school Easter Fayre so it might be worse, maybe just cakes Shock

We did a test bake in a new pie mould that we are developing. Instead of filling the pie with dry rice or flour (it keeps better for photography purposes that way) my colleague filled it with fish fingers.

The mould worked perfectly, but Fish Finger Pie is not a culinary sensation. It would, however, be a useful way to get rid of guests who have outstayed their welcome! It might be better drowned in parsley sauce I suppose.

MoustacheofRonSwanson · 27/03/2015 08:42

Going out for steak and chips tonight as it's date night! Hooray. Friday.

Last night I ate half a bag of tyrells crisps accompanied by tivo'd Grey's Anatomy as had a good lunch and DH was out for a work thing.

Leafyshake · 27/03/2015 09:12

Yes this thread needs a comma or brackets!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 28/03/2015 13:20

Sorry, should have used a comma. In my defence I have the 'flu
