Chinesey veg ideas..

Going to do sweet and sour chicken in the slow cooker later but need some inspiration for additional veg on the side.... Something to boost the nutritional value and also, add a different texture. Something with sugar snap peas in soy perhaps or kale?? Don't cook Chinese food much so am a bit clueless as to how to flavour it.

Any ideas??

Smile if you want to go fusion, how about rice & peas or honey glazed carrots?

a very easy chinese veg dish is having kai lan or choi sum (if you want to go really chinese) or you can still just have brocolli/carrots/fine beans...

oil in frying pan, wait till it gets hot, put choice of veg in. stir it around.
put chopped garlic (1 clove). stir in
put some sesame oil, and soy sauce, and oyster sauce. stir.
put in some water (not a lot - maybe a few spoonfuls - just to make alittle gravy, not soupy).
stir it around.
salt, pepper
serve.

I make a cauliflower dish which is delicious. Break the cauliflower into small pieces. Chop a couple of cloves of garlic. Fry in olive oil for about 5 mins. Then add soy sauce and cook for another few minutes. Finally add some hot chilli (sriracha) sauce.

Thank you! Great suggestions plus the tips on flavouring were exactly what I need. Anyone got any kale or spinach ideas?

Quick fry some shredded kale with some crushed garlic, add a dash of sesame oil and soy sauce at the end.

If you fry it til it is starting to brown slightly at the edges, it tastes pleasingly of chinese crispy seaweed :)
