Is it possible to cook plain pasta in a microwave?

Rayburn has broken down, and it could be two weeks before it is fixed. Dh and I can manage on soup and bread, with the occasional takeaway for variety, but dd adores cheesy pasta and has it three times a week at least. She's had beans on toast tonight, so could do with something different tomorrow, so how do I cook pasta shapes in the microwave-it must be possible, surely?

I've done it an they do come out well. Just added pasta and water to a bowl and put it on about 4 mins then stirred then on again for about another 4 mins.

any clues on ratio of water to pasta, I tried it yesterday and all the water eveaporated before pasta was cooked, i ended up with alump of fused crunchy spagetti. gave up at that point and did 3 min noodles on teh hob.

lol

No I don't know ratios etc - I put the pasta in a bowl and filled it so it covered the pasta with water and then microwaved it.

Try to have a deep bowl (e.g. a pyrex measuring jug) because it will bubble lots. Don't try to cook too much at once - and have lots of water. Consider 'fresh' pasta since it diesn't need to be cooked as thoroughly. Else consider cooking it elsewhere (e.g. neighbour; mum) in relative bulk, then reheating. I think pasta freezes OK - certainly OK in fridge with a bit of oil to stop sticking.
