Kitchenaid Food Processor - advice please!

Someone I know is selling pretty much this food processor (slightly different model number, not much in it). She only wants £10 or so. Great! Except the reason being it doesn't actually work! It seems this is because the handle on the bowl is not locking into place. I phoned Kitchenaid and they can sell me a replacement 2.8 litre work bowl with matching black handle for £42. Now part of me really wants to go for it because the only food processor I have is my parents old one from the '80s, which is totally on its last legs, but £52 is a lot of money to chuck at a food processor when I'm quite skint and probably wouldn't even consider that amount if it weren't for the brand name and retail cost price. But furthermore, it no longer has any accessories except the basic blade.

What do you reckon? Is there anything really significantly good about one of these to make it worth shelling out on it, or am I being silly? Or does anyone have an old, broken Kitchenaid food processor with a black handle in this shape with a working bowl they'd like to flog me for significantly less than £42?! Got to be worth an ask... or maybe not...!

Thanks so much for any thoughts!

I would save up and buy a new one op. I got one on offer and I think it's great.

Really? Maybe that makes more sense. By the time I bought any accessories I'd be into new price anyway! The thing is I only use my ancient food processor for a few things (making breadcrumbs, crumbles and paste for marinades/curries) so it probably only comes out a couple of times a month. I'm wondering if I had a really nifty one with lots of accessories I'd use it more, or whether I'd always be a bit put off by the extra washing up and not get it out more anyway!

You could sell it on for much more than £52 so I would definitely buy it.

Do you reckon, even without any accessories? Arrrggghhh!

Check on ebay for accessories and bowl - often they include things you never use. Also check out second hand prices.

I have checked ebay and apart from some options in the US (which may not fit this model and goodness knows what customs charges would do to the price) there isn't anything. However, the seller took my offer of a fiver, which I feel I can justify to have it sit around whilst I set up an ebay alert and consider the options! I'll pick it up later today.

Thanks for responding all!

Five pounds is good. Let us know how you get on.
