Have a look at the deliciously Ella website, lots of nice things on there using both

I use quinoa in exactly the same way as rice, anything with a sauce goes with it. Never tried buckwheat but I do like lentils and cous cous.

i was thinking of using it just like rice pasta etc I thought it might be to bland i was thinking i Could use it in the stews and soups to thicken them ?

You can certainly use lentils to thicken soups. Quinoa actually has a slightly nutty flavour.

I love quinoa in tabbouleh-type salads but the only way I have found to make buckwheat edible is in galettes so will watch with interest

buckwheat is supposed to take like well done toast so look forward to that Smile quinoa is a nutty taste so will take some getting used to it'll help me stop been fussy and get some nuts and seeds in me hopefully im scared of trying any new nuts/seeds at the moment for fear of not liking them Hmm

Not to keem on deliciously ella she seems patronising and put of touch with the real world ive only read bad reviews on her book and i dont wish to become a rabbit just want to find good alternative superfoods to the usual grains and such

Use it in vegetable or chicken soup.

Add a handful with the rest.
I think quinoa has to be rinsed well to get rid of the bitterness.
Buckwheat cooks surprisingly quickly.

I have some roasted buckwheat that goes on top of salad as a crouton type of thing, and it's lovely, but haven't tried roasting it myself.

I buy my quinoa in microwave packs.

Have you been checked for coeliacs? Never tried Quinoa or buckwheat cooking.

It's not like I'm a massive super-keen fan of Ella, but I think you're being a bit harsh - she has had to adapt her diet for health reasons, much like you, she wasn't into this healthy eating beforehand .... maybe you could check out her blog or book?

Forendata · 14/03/2015 05:40

Yes have a look at Ella. Just for ideas. Doesn't mean you have to totally adopt her lifestyle.

Also Hemsley and Hemsley. Similar in their not actually being real world people etc but I do really like their approach to food and some good recipes.

Quinoa and buckwheat don't really work in the same way something like Quorn does to meat. Ie they can't always just be used as like for like substitutes for pasta and bread. You do need to get creative sometimes.
