Just wondering what after school snacks you give? Do you buy something or make something?

I don't bother to be honest! They have some fruit if they're starving but given we have dinner at 5pm I would rather not ruin their appetite for their dinner.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/03/2015 18:23

normally have a yoyo bear or an apple if they are starving. we also have dinner 430-5 :)

Fruit or yoghurt are staples. Sometimes carrot and cucumber sticks, sometimes chocolate biscuit (Penguin/Club type). If they are very hungry better an interim snack than a meltdown due to hunger before food is cooked.

We eat dinner quite late, seven, so DCs eat a lot, but itudt include a pot of veggies - usually carrot, cherry toms, sweet corn and cucumber. They are v bad at eating veg if it isn't hidden in dinner. Also usually have a grit or two - dried or sweet. About 3 times a week they also have a biscuit, or organic bar or alike.

imip · 10/03/2015 18:31

Fruit. Not grit - that would be funny!

Meredithgraze · 10/03/2015 18:53

Fruit
Celery/carrot
Choc rice cakes
Sun bites
Philadelphia on crackers
Biscuit

Imperialleather2 · 10/03/2015 18:58

Mini soreen loaf or 2 jaffa cakes
cucumber sticks
apple or nectarine or satsuma

all 3 very day after school even though we have dinner at 5 it doesn't seem to finish his appetite. He is sooooo hungry when he comes out of school.

He just seems to burn up food as quick as it goes in .

Normally a drink and a biscuit.

Sometimes one of them has made cake (they both like baking), and sometimes they might have a plum or apricot or something, but more often than not they just have a biscuit.

Dinner sometime between 6 and 7, and DD1 has quite a long walk home from school, so they need something to tide them over.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/03/2015 12:02

Fruit. Not hey can have cake or biscuits if they've baked or I have.

Silverjohnleggedit · 15/03/2015 17:59

If there is something in the fridge they eat it - it's not something I plan for.
But if they find it they will eat fruit, veg, yoghurt, cake, ham hock, hot chocolate, cheese and biscuits, leftover pancakes.

GoogleyEyes · 15/03/2015 18:04

Piece of fruit, or a crumpet if tea will be late.

Sometimes a flapjack or piece of cake on the rare occasions that I bake, or they share a piece of birthday cake or sweeties if one of them is given something like that by a birthday child at school / nursery. I wish school would stick to its no sweeties for birthdays rule, but that's a different thread...

BlueBananas · 16/03/2015 18:32

Usually a cup of milk and a cereal bar

LineRunner · 16/03/2015 18:36

Pitta bread and houmous.

tigersack · 16/03/2015 18:41

Toast

HopefulHamster · 16/03/2015 21:00

I am not as good as you guys!

Cereal bar most days, then fruit, but I have been known to give into biscuit and chocolate requests on occasion.

Smooshface · 17/03/2015 11:32

Breadsticks or fruit flakes or maybe bag of crisps. DC (5) always seems ravenous. Do worry she eats too much
