What have you all got that doesn't have tomatoes or passatta in that's very budget friendly? I need help, thank you!

Carbonara, made the proper way (no cream).

ceeveebee · 03/03/2015 17:58

Garlic, spinach and mushrooms with either white sauce or cream cheese stirred in

ceeveebee · 03/03/2015 17:59

Oh and I use frozen spinach which comes in little blocks so more budget friendly

DemonChild · 03/03/2015 17:59

Butternut squash and spinach is a massive hit in our family:

I use this one, but omit the sage and add a bag of spinach

NotTheKitchenAgainPlease · 03/03/2015 18:00

Pesto and cheese
Broccoli pasta
Tin of Campbell's condensed cream of mushroom soup

LineRunner · 03/03/2015 18:00

Pasta, tin of tuna and mayonnaise. Lovely with a bit of chopped onion and parmesan / grated cheese if you have it.

SunnySomer · 03/03/2015 18:01

Leek, bacon and creme fraiche.

Philadelphia, or supermarket equivalent. Then mix in whatever else you want. One of the dcs favorites. Smile

we do one with mushrooms, bacon, and little bits of sausage, in a carbonara-ish mixture of creme fraiche, egg yolk and parmesan

broccoli, bacon, garlic and dried chilli flakes,

smoked salmon (the trimmings are cheap), creme fraiche, garlic and lemon

OttiliaVonBCup · 03/03/2015 18:26

leeks, one or two sausages, fennel seeds.

brown butter and crumbled feta or goals cheese and black pepper

BinToHellAndBack · 03/03/2015 18:32

This is so much tastier than it sounds, but...

Tinned salmon, fined diced celery and mayonnaise, mixed up then stirred into pasta.

So quick. Makes a fab sandwich filling too (minus the pasta!).

SaltyGoodness · 03/03/2015 18:36

Tuna mornay pasta - make bechamel/white sauce, add tin of tuna, some herbs, Worcestershire sauce, tomato ketchup, penne and I always add a dash of fish sauce or some anchovies. They do melt into it, and it doesn't taste very fishy honestly! Frozen corn or peas are also good. This is real comfort food for me and DD. Smile

I really like pasta with mushy peas and cheese. I got the idea from A Girl Called Jack and it's surprisingly yummy!

There's also a recipe in her book for spaghetti with sardines, green beans and sultanas and chili that's really good.

Just stir in dome le boursin type creamy cheese. Or fry a little garlic in Olive Oil and stir the garlicky oil into the pasta. Even better add some thinly sliced chili peppers to the garlic when frying.

Another thing I loved as a kid, but my husband thinks I'd weird is frying the cooked pasta in butter with some sugar and cinnamon. Great leftovers dish

toffeeboffin · 05/03/2015 02:05

Chicken pasta pesto!

Cook pasta. Meanwhile, chop and sauté a red pepper and an onion. Add diced chicken breast. Add a jar of pesto. Heat through, add drained pasta and serve. Sprinkle with cheese if needed.

Really good and very filling!

sauté = saute, obviously! Grin
