I made a gum drops loaf, it tasted lovely, but all the gum drops sank to the bottom of the loaf. Where did I go wrong?

Toss them in flour as you would raisins and other dried fruit in baking

What on earth is a gum drops loaf? Is this really a thing now?

This has been a thing for ages! My Nanikins made them for me when I was tiny! She still does nowGrin
I buy the gum drops at 'Bulk Barn' (a dry goods store) and put them in the cupboard with the intention of making a loaf. Then I steal a few to snack on, as does DH, and then the kids do too. Suddenly there aren't enough gum drops to make a cake, so we eat the rest. Then I go buy more, about 6 months later, and the cycle goes on.
Somehow this time I actually made it right after buying them, and I had bought extra with this in mind.
What I hadn't planned on was the wonderful surprise visit with my friend (who live 2 provinces away) and our non stop gabbing!
I doubt I looked into the mixing bowl more than twice Grin It's a bit of a miracle that a cake got made at all.
