Corn Kernels - sweetcorn, right?

American recipe lists 'fresh or thawed frozen corn kernels'

It just means sweetcorn, right? The 'kernels' threw me a little!

Yes I think so. Kernels is the individual little bits that show up in your poo. A full cob would be an ear.

Calling them kernels made me think of popping corn. But I really don't think that would be going into my Hot Tamale Vegetable Pie would it??

Popping corn will be the same thing except they are dried, not frozen? You wouldn't freeze something dried because it's already preserved if it's dried.

But surely dried kernels can't be used in the same way?

No. I just meant it's the same word because it's the same plant.

Yes. It's just frozen sweetcorn in a bag.

Popcorn and sweetcorn don't come from the same kind of corn. It's a different plant altogether.

Really? I thought corn was corn! Blush

Great, thank you.
