Hi

I've been given a loaf tin. How do I know if it's 1lb or 2lb size please?

According the Lakeland catalogue, if traditionally shaped the dimensions would be about

1lb tin 16x11x7cm
2lb tin 31x13x7cm

7 is the height of the tin.

Hope that helps. I can't manage to get inches to display properly so you'll need to convert the numbers yourself if you want inches!

Fill it with water then tip into a measuring jug. One pound = just under half a litre

NNF15, Becca and FSG give differing opinions in that Becca's 1lb loaf pan is just under 1.3litres, not "just under half a litre" as FSG suggests. They do vary, but not that much. It depends if your loaf pan is for producing a loaf from 1lb dough, or a loaf that weighs 1lb (which would weigh around 30% more as wet dough.

We produce pans that are large enough for the latter, and are around 1 litre. Most other manufacturers produce pans for the former and they would be about 750ml in capacity.

Thank you, I'm sure I can figure it out now with the tips here.
