Freezing "not suitable for home freezing" items?

I bought a cheese and jalapeño tear and share bread from asda and whacked it in the freezer. Just noticed it says it's unsuitable for home freezing on it. Surely if I defrost it then heat it to mega piping hot it'll be ok?!

I would have thought it'll be fine, I wouldn't do it with fish or meat though as it usually means its been frozen before.

Ahh I freeze everything, sure it'll be alright

Aye, you'll be fine.

I'd say with things like that you're perfectly safe, it just might not defrost well so quality may be compromised (may be soggy etc). Won't do any harm though

lovely thank you, will be eating it tonight Smile

I can vouch that it did not kill me when I have done this once or twice.

I am still alive!

Wouldn't have risked if it had meat/fish in it though!

It's uusually about product quality. Some things break down during the freezing/defrosting process and might split, lose their texture or similar. Other things have been previously frozen and they can be harmful if frozen and defrosted again.
