Vegetable Spiralizer

Anyone got one? I'm liking the idea of making veg 'noodles/pasta' and wanted to see if anyone recommends? I've seen the Zoodle Chef which looks a reasonable price and easy to store, anyone got one? The big ones look like they would take up alot of room and may gather dust in the cupboard and are twice the price of hand held ones. I saw a really cheap one from China on ebay but imagine it will be a bit rubbish.

I have the spirali one and it gets used a few times a week. Mainly courgette pasta but also carrot and cucumber noodles and daikon for inside summer rolls. The wider setting cuts a nice cucumber ribbon for salads.

Arriving on Monday so will be stocking up on courgettes tomorrow - desperate to make that ersatz pasta and my last hope to reduce carbs and get into a reasonable sized dress at some point

oooh, now fantasising about cucumber spirals

MrsUltracrepidarian · 26/05/2015 12:03

It arrived and have just used it for the first time - fab! its gonna change my life, for sure. Much easier to 'assemble' than I feared and piss-easy easy to clean.
Thanks again MNet!!!

I use mine a couple of times a week, I got it this time last year.
If I know I'm going to be eating 'courgetti' a few days in a row I do 3-4 courgettes at a time. Then salt them and put them between kitchen paper in plastic boxes in the fridge. Nice and dried out by the time I use them.

I use that in place of pasta or add them to stir fries.

I'll be using it for more salad type stuff now too and the kids try new things because of the novelty factor.

Have been buying all sorts of veg that look like hey might spiralize well.
Bought a mooli yestersay because of its shape Grin spiralized really well, but have no idea what to do with it. Guess I will stir-fry it Grin

Ooh I'm going to order one too...

MrsUltracrepidarian · 01/06/2015 17:44

Just ordered another one for my mum who was delighted by my courgetti Grin

dynevoran · 01/06/2015 21:15

Mooli is another word for daikon. It's mainly used as a sashimi garnish. I use it in summer rolls - works really well.

MrsUltracrepidarian · 02/06/2015 09:24

Yes it turned out to quite a boring vegetable ( I am not ambitious enough to do Japanese cookery Grin), but just the right shape for my new toy... I have had it several days in a row in salads, so was not wasted ( and have heard it is good for blood pressure) but I don't think it will become part of the weekly shop.

When I was a poor student I would mix beansprouts with spaghetti. Why bother with all the effort of making veg spaghetti when you can get it ready made.
