Anyone know A GOOD EGG FREE CAKE RECIPIE other than choclate????

I have a great choc recipie but would like to try a sponge type or something like that. DS is not dairy allergic so milk products are ok.

A fairy cake EGG FREE recipie would be good as well. Basically anything that goes down well for a Birthday party.

Thanks

don't actually know any, but here are loads of egg-free recipes - you can click onn the shortcut at the top or scroll down most of the way to get to the cakes section (and baked 'fayre')- includes a fairy cakes recipe.

try this? Lost of other nice egg free cakes on here too! The vegan red velvetish cupcakes are yummy very light, could also be made without the cocoa.

drosophila · 16/10/2006 19:43

I've tried lots of recipies like these. They invariably use raising agents or self raising flour, vinegar, vanilla and oil and whilst it deffo works they can all taste a bit samey. I was hoping someone had tried something diffrent.

A friend of mine suggeted using fizzy water or soda water to lighten the mix. Anyone tried that?

Do the red velvet one ! That was cream butter and sugare, add 3tsp no egg and 6oml water. Mix milk vinegar and vanilla (yuk) sieve flour cinamon cocoa bicarb and baking powder and mix altogether. It was really light and rose well. You could easily do it without the cocoa another worth trying

I had a recipe for one with condensed milk that was yummy, lost it though

drosophila · 16/10/2006 19:48

What is the egg substitute and does it work and where can I get it?

carrot cake

HowwwlidaymumsSalemPilgrimage · 16/10/2006 19:50

I use one called No egg and get it from my local healthfood shop, it can be used in cakes, batters even custards.

drosophila · 16/10/2006 19:57

Do you think I could use cows milk instead of rice milk?

HowwwlidaymumsSalemPilgrimage · 16/10/2006 19:57

I would love a lemon drizzle one. I wonder if you could adapt one of these recipies?

Ta it is! To change to lemon drizzle use lemon juice instead of vinegar and add the zest of the lemon make the icing as per other recipes.

hunkamunker · 16/10/2006 23:01

I just replace each egg with a bit of fresh-ground linseed and a bit of water. Something like a tbsp of each? Check online.

I wouldn't do this substitution for a fairy cake, though, it's more for things like carrot cake etc.
