Home made Fish fingers??? Anyone know how?

Someone must make their own fish fingers?

Have got step dd coming for tea and she will only eat fishfingers/sausages/ burger type crap so thought I would try and make some fish fingers (plus I haven't got round to cooking some salmon I bought so thought pink fish fingers might be even better!!)

Thanks

I do, and it's really easy. Cut strips of fish, roll them in beaten egg and then in breadcrumbs, fry. Delish.

If she will only eat convenience food then she is probably addicted to the high salt and low taste version. Your pink version will not impress her.

Make whatever you would normally have and she chooses whether to eat it. She may find she likes Salmon.

this is what I do, and it works really well with salmon.

Cut your fish into finger-ish chunks
Get 3 bowls - in 1st put seasoned flour, 2nd egg, 3rd a mix of fresh grated breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan (if you don't have Parmesan use any hard cheese)
Dip the fish in 1-2 and 3, then shallow fry. Put a bit of butter in your oil to stop it from blackening.

We love them!

The home made ones do go down well with the Inferiorettes, no stranger to the bought fishfinger. A slosh or seven of tomato ketchup helps.

????????? why on earth would you hehe

Neena28 · 12/10/2006 16:53

threebob you are soooo right BUT it will save the salmon being wasted, my two will (probably) like them and dp will think I have been kind as I have made them 'specially' for her.

TBH she hates me simply because she has been told to by her mother. If she bothers to say hello when she arrives she will get tomato sauce if not then I may have run out yesterday. Have got pmt and have had a really busy day so I'm not really in the mood to be treated like shit by an 11 year old!

Thanks will have a look through all the recipes! Which to choose??!!

Cod - doesn't cornflour make them taste 'floury'?
Have only ever used it in things like sauces.

Think will use up some opened breadcrumbs in the larder plus some fresh.

thanks all.

i have a great recipe.... get in car
drive to shop
open freezer door
take out fish fingers
go home and cook

sorry.. dry sense of humor

Neena28 · 12/10/2006 17:02

Rachluv get your point (and your sense of humour)

But if I do that I'll then have to explain expensive salmon from waitrose in the compost heap!! Plus nearest shop is about 15 mins away and I have to get dd out of bed, tell ds to stop playing, get shoes on both and get them in the car, get fish fingers, get back in car. Easier just to make 'em!

I roll them in cornflour, shake off the excess, then dip them in egg, and then roll them in seasoned breadcrumbs. They always turn out OK.

I was told to do it by someone on the internet, Miss

Greensleeves · 12/10/2006 19:09

threebob · 14/10/2006 04:48
