alcohol in cooking question

I have just baked some cookies using lakeland vanilla extract

It has an alcohol content of 35%. I know that this reduces when cooking - I am cooking for 15 minutes so it will retain about 35-40% alcohol. Even so - is this ok for ds to eat the cookies!?
I only used half a teaspoon in the mixture.

thanks x

Personally I wouldn't worry about it - there must be only a tiny bit in each biscuit....

Surely if its alchohol content is 35% to start it couldn't be 35-40% at the end - that means it's increased??

sorry claire - I mean 35-40% of the original alcohol content is left (ie. I think about 14%)

I am thinking that there must be such a small amount too. thanks

I was always led to believe that all the alcohol was lost in the cooking!

They will be absolutely fine for your ds to eat. The amount of alcohol in these extracts is tiny and most of it cooks off. Even a sip of wine wouldn't harm him, so the cookies will be OK too.

However if alcohol is added near the end of the cooking it will retain quite a high proportion.

emily - it will help him sleep
