Do you need to be a special person to shop there (in business etc)?
Can anyone go in and buy Malibu at £2.99 a bottle, for example?
Do they just sell shit food or can you get good brands there?

need letterheads and stuff -

but if you can , then do join- i lurve their sweetie aisle

clothes, wrapping paper, booze, diamonds, food, drink, some good brands , some not so good. they sell everything..even trampolines, tyres and hot tubs!

it's shopping heaven !

bootsmonkey · 09/10/2006 19:44

The fresh meat and fish are very good quality and value. Cheap books and DVDs. Bulk wrapping paper, cards, etc. Their own brand is Kirkland and you have to shop around to find those really good value items.

And the wine - what can I say - I stock up and haven't paid supermarket prices for months!!

PrettyCandles · 09/10/2006 19:47

It's great! You can join as a business, in which case you get longer shopping hours and can of course reclaim VAT, but you can also join as a private individual, and still save money even though you would have to pay VAT. Go with someone who's already a member so that you can find out what you need to become a member (or maybe that info is on their website - make sure you look at the UK site).

There are plenty of 'real' brands, most of the big names plus a few that I personally think aren't that good. Also Kirkland which is their own-brand, and which is excellent quality. I bought my Kenwood Chef there and paid about £100 less than John Lewis price. And when I wasn't happy about the sound the engine was making, I was able to return it for a full refund without the slightest quibble.

as i recall i joined with some old tax forms, so your mil should have them. i take it you could phone and check?

great for mozzarella (6 little bagged mozzies for £1.99, beat that!)

tinned organic toms and chickpeas but you have to buy 12

croissants and danish pastries. buy them and freeze them.

fresh tuna steaks, good smoked salmon and smoked trout

washing powder multipacks

electrical goods are sometimes cheap

toothpaste multipacks

and of course, nappies.

i go with a friend and we split up the packs when we get home, otherwise the bulk buying might get a bit bilky iykwim?

sorry about that, never happened before. although it does allow me to correct 'bilky' to bulky.

rachluv · 09/10/2006 20:17

I'm off to Costco on Saturday.

I lurve it.

I go there b/c they sell a lot of American foods I crave.

A staff ID and utility bill/council tax book should do it.

expatinscotland · 09/10/2006 20:36

Their cakes are fabulous.

MrsSpoon · 09/10/2006 20:37

Costco is fab. I would use it more if there was one a bit more local to me. Beware however that you may end up spending a vast fortune when only going in for soap powder. Last time we went in we spent £700!

TheBlairAitchProject · 09/10/2006 22:51

tell me about those kirkland nappies... are they really good?

expatinscotland · 09/10/2006 22:52

The Kirkland washing powder is fab.

AND, you can auger a few holes into the bottom of the giant tub it comes in and use that as a planter.

expatinscotland · 09/10/2006 22:52

And they have Miss Sixty jeans for about £35.

rachluv · 11/10/2006 17:12

hi, the blairaitch the kirkland nappies are THE BEST EVER no wet mornings

GhoulsToo · 11/10/2006 17:13
