Hope the link works.

Can you advise me on how to make the blue spikey things on top of the cake and attach them to the cake?

Can you also advise on how I make the snowflakes on wires?

I have sugarpaste, tylose powder, and snowflake cutter plunger things.

Thank you!

Or modeling paste, with spaghetti or cocktail sticks at the bottom as anchors. Insert cocktail sticks while soft. Or fix shards of candy glass or modeling paste with royal icing "snow".

Its quite hard to get hold of corn syrup in the UK as I had a similar query recently here. Someone suggested this:

Ingredients:
500ml water
785g granulated sugar
A few drops of gel food colouring (optional)
250ml liquid glucose
¼ tsp cream of tartar

Apparatus:
One shallow baking tray, lined with foil, with no gaps
Oil spray
Sugar thermometer

Recipe:
Spray your prepared baking tray all over with the oil spray at least 30 minutes before you want to use it. Place the water, sugar, food colouring (if using), liquid glucose and cream of tartar into a pan with a sugar thermometer attached and stir to combine. Bring to the boil over a medium heat, until it reaches 150°C – approximately 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool to 130°C – approximately 10 minutes, then pour the mixture quickly and carefully into the oiled baking tray. Allow to cool completely. Pop the sugar sheet very carefully out of the tray, then, using a meat tenderiser, hit the sheet carefully in the centre so it cracks into shards

I made some recently and used the recipe which Tinkerball posted (though I halved it as the liquid glucose packet was smaller and I hadn't realised).

I didn't have a sugar thermometer but did watch a very useful video on youtube with an American Dad making it for his daughter. The gel food colouring made it turn a lovely aqua colour.

I had the same problem...dd had requested a big double layer creation with the blue glass...all looked so complicated!!! Then I found this...lifesaver and so easy!
