So - she doesn't eat sandwiched, we're not allowed to give picnic eggs (kid at school with v bad allergy), she's on a school ban from yoghurts after painting everyone with it.

I'm struggling already.

I've given her cocktail sauasages with bits of cheese
oat & hovis crackers
cold chicken nuggets that have cheese & stuff in them as well
bits of carrot, baby corn, cucumber, red pepper
breadsticks
couple of slices of pizza
fruit salads
dried fruits (apricots, raisins etc)
fruitins
soft cheese and breadsticks for dipping
cold pasta with bit of bolognaise sauce
yoghurt coated apricots
fruit flakes

But every day, day in day out variations of the above, just seems limited.

What else can I try her with?

chicken and mayo filled Pita bread, or tuna and sweetcorn?

my DS loves them at the moment

SpookyMadMummy · 07/10/2006 12:39

I know you say not sandwiches but have you tried pitta bread or nan or wraps? you can either fill them or the Pitta would cut into strips with a dip...

busywizzy · 07/10/2006 12:41

My DD went through a stage of not eating sandwiches so I gave her tortilla wraps instead filled with whatever filling I would have put in a sandwich - ham, chicken, cheese, tuna. Sometimes, I put all the bits into a little bag and she made the wraps herself at school - she loved it.

Kidstrack · 07/10/2006 12:45

would second the pitta bread my ds loves it filled with cold meat and cheese

popsycal · 07/10/2006 12:46

was going to suggest pittas and wraps
to be honest that list sounds an excellent varitey to compare to many lunches i have seen...

popsycal · 07/10/2006 12:47

ds1 loves hummus and grated carrot in pitta bread

ThomBat · 07/10/2006 13:45

Okey doke, will try pittas and wraps and see how we go.

Hard to find filling things when sandwiches are out of the equation.
Don't want to go don the biscuit, sweet type route although I do make the odd carrot cake or banana loaf and that always gets eaten but I can't do that every week.

TC, tbh, that sounds a lot more varied than the contents of my lunchboxes - try wraps and pittas, yes, but don't fret too much that it's 'samey' - it's not!

I don't have it but Annabel Karmel did a lunchboxes book - have a look at that maybe?

When my dd gets bored of sandwiches I give her mini pork-pies, sausage rolls or bagels for a change.

BATtymumma · 07/10/2006 14:09

just so long as those sausage rolls aren't from greggs and she doesnt eat them in a stroller

thankyoupoppet · 07/10/2006 14:16

little tub of pasta/rice salad -stick anything the little darlings will eat; pepper, sweetcorn, tuna, peas, chicken, ham, leftover veggies etc. etc.

I try and aim for a little leftover meat where poss to use in lunchbox meals.

Thanks all.

Went to Waitrose instead of Sainsburys & M&S and found a few new things I haven't bought for her before as well.
Although those lemon biscuits may not make it as far as her lunch box!

I dont know if this is any use but I make meat/vegetable pasties, big ones for DH's lunch and little ones for DD's lunch/snacks. I use leftover veg and prerolled pastry so they are really quick to make. I add a little cheese/pesto inside for flavour and dip them in beaten egg and then sesame seeds. They last for several days in the fridge so 30 minutes effort one evening (20 mins prep and 10-12 cooking) means I can laze around for
several days.
It was the only way I could get DD to eat certain vegetables/meat LOL!
