Do people still use pie plates?

I'm trying to find a flatish metal plate for pies. My DM used to use them but has got rid
The only thing I can find so far is too deep - I remember the plates being only about 2cm at most.
Anyone?

Yes, I do. But they are hand me downs. I've never bought one.

I'd suggest trying an old fashioned hardware shop/ironmongers or somewhere like Lakeland.

I have one if those blue and white enamel pie plates, it's very shallow. I got it at a local hardware store but I think you can get similar at Lakeland or Amazon.

otherwise pyrex plates can be good if you frequent charity shops.

Also, I don't like this modern trend of a pie being some shit thrown in a dish with a bit of pastry chucked on top. A proper pie should have a pastry base too.

Same as Veruca (nice name ) - I have a white enamel plate with a blue rim, bought in my local Aladdin's Cave type shop. I use it to make apple pie and the like.

I've seen the blue and white enamel one in Wilko but have also seen them in hardware stores, Yorkshire Trading.

My pie plate is just about knackered after 20 years of use; I've not seen one to match it. It has holes in the bottom to allow steam to evaporate so no soggy bottoms

yes and I agree pies should have a pasty base as well as a top.

I've got some of the metal ones from Lakeland.

I used to use a pyrex plate because the shape was perfect, but it's long gone, now.

I'm making a pumpkin pie so def no top layer. Might have to use a flan ring if I can't get to an outdoorsy shop

pyrex is great for pies...well for short crust!

I have some deeper enamel pie dishes...M&S did fancy puddings in them ages ago, they are great for all sorts
