Where to eat in Bristol?

I was hoping that somebody would be able to give me suggestions for nice, but not too pricey, places to eat in Bristol.

A group of us are going to see "Mamma Mia" at the Colston Hall on Saturday. We will be arriving in Bristol (Temple Meads station) around 5:15, and the show starts at 7:30. so we need somewhere between the 2 which will provide good food (including veggie) for a reasonable price, in a relatively short space of time.

Anyone up to the challenge?

Thanks in advance

There's a pasta place on Baldwin St, so quite near The Colston Hall. It'll be quick and cheap I guess but I couldn't vouch for the quality. I have eaten there but long ago and it was fine. It's one of those Pasta chains, can't remember the name, sorry. Or there's The Spyglass on Welshback which is a boat and will therefore be lovely for drinks overlooking the water etc. I've only had lunchtime tapas in there and I wasn't that impressed (it wasn't terrible but for example I thought the parma ham looked as if it had been left out a while. The waitress said 'Well it hasn't, OK?' in quite a stroppy way. Err, no, not OK) but the rest was ok and the setting was great. My sister swears by The Olive Shed but I don't know where it is. OR Pizza Express in Berkeley Square isn't far in a cab from the station and then it would be about a 20 minute walk downhill afterwards. At least you know the quality will be good and they will definitely be able to feed you in the time available. Sorry, I'm not much help am I?

here you go, this might be your place if they're open at 5.30 The Olive Shed

Actually you'll be into rush hour so maybe PE in a cab isn't the best idea.

Remembered the name, it's Bella Pasta on Baldwin St I think.

Thanks for this, www. We ended up going to the Pithcer and Piano which is in the area near the river. It was really nice, and I was impressed by the development that's gone on round there. Last time I was in that area of Bristol, there was only the Watershed (I think that's what it's called) Arts Centre place.

Good to see where @Bristol is, too - I've been meaning to take dd's there for ages. Now I know where it is!

The show was not what we were expecting - it was advertised as "Mamma Mia", so we thought we had tickets for the Abba musical. It was actually the Mamma Mia concert tour which is nothing to do with the musical, but is a couple of tribute bands (Abba and the Bee Gees) and what appeared to be an am dram society doing songs from the 60's and Grease. Not great.

yeah, but make sure it's Sweeney Todd the show - not Sweeney Todd the concert with added drama school students singing a medley of songs from their favourite musicals.
