Help!! my 11 month old has decided she doesnt like jars anymore and will hardly eat anything off a spoon. she has been living on toast and sandwiches for the past week!i need ideas for finger foods that are solid enough for her to hold, but not too chewy as she only has 5 teeth. also i dont want to give har any rubbish as im paranoid about her getting fat!!

my dd the same

she ate spag bol with her hands last week!

different types of bread toasted and cut into fingers - with stuff to dip into if she can

pieces of hard boiled egg

pieces of cheese

carrot sticks

small pasta shapes

strips of chicken breast

snadwiches are good - vary the fillings

homemade potato wedges

i'm sure someone else has more imaginative list but this works in our house when DD refuses to be spoon fed

and my DD has 6 teeth!

i tried scrambed egg with toast and marmite and she seemed to gag at the egg!shes just tried carrot and parsnip fingers for her tea and i tried to give her some jar at the same time but she was having none of it. all her veg seems so boring as i wont give her any gravy cause of the salt in it. its funny though as she could sit and eat paper all day long!!

LOL at paper - my DD adores newspaper, the odd magazine and kitchen roll!!!

just thought of another one -

mini pitta breads with houmous inside, cut in half if neccesary...

Eggy bread, cheese on toast, breadsticks with dips, scones, pancakes with different fillings, fruit and veg are brilliant, cherry tomatoes, cucumber sticks.

I take your point about rubbish but I wouldn't worry about her getting fat. Babies really need a fair amount of saturated fat - it helps their brain development. If she's porky when she's two, then I'd cut down the fats. And it's better for us all to eat sugar than sweeteners!

thanks for the ideas. eggy bread sounds good. and hoummous and pittas are worth a go.
