Does anyone make their own yoghurt?

If so, what/how do you do it?

I'd love to make our yoghurt but I'm unsure about all of the different makers etc available. I'm also ridiculously concerned about the bacteria getting out of control and giving us food poisoning.

I want to make plain yoghurt, not the sort that has lots of sweetener/sugar added.

Also, a side question, can you make it from almond milk?

lakeland yogurt maker with long life full fat milk, tablespoon of milk powder and a pot of live yogurt - the ones with green outside, organic ones, can't remember name. stir slightly, leave overnight and always comes out fine. not sour

never tried almond milk.......didn't even know it existed

Once you make it dream how long does it last? And is it nicer than shop bought? DH has memories of rich creamy homemade yoghurt from some point in his childhood and I'm trying to replicate this.

after about 5 days if there's any left i normally bin it, but it may last longer i don't know.....i'm just a bit hyper about food poisoning and old food.

i dont like natural bought shop yogurt, but i can happily eat this as its not sour. its creamy if you use full fat milk and the milk powder, there were complaints on here about home made being runny otherwise.

Yes I often find shop bought plain yoghurt tastes a bit sour which I dislike.
