palm oil and rapeseed oil in scones....

I rarely buy cakes but have developed a soft spot for scones recently. After reading about trans-fatty acids the other day I looked at the ingredients on Waitrose fruit scones (which taste lovely). Palm oil and rapeseed oil?? Don't remember my mum ever using either of those...I'm happy baking my own cakes but I'm going to have to bite the bullet and bake my own scones as well aren't I? I'll be joining the WI next. (another worrying trend is my recent discovery that aprons actually work... I have taken to wearing one in the house....it really won;t do). So who's got the best scone recipe?

Scones are easy. I think Twiglett had a thread recently looking for a recipe actually.

You can't beat the bero book for good simple home baking!Gran, mum and now I use it. Cost about a quid on the website.

I think I read that M&S are getting rid of all trans fats in their food soon, so their fresh scones might be a good choice? (in fact I think Sainsbury's and one or two others were doing the same thing, or maybe they were just labelling them more clearly, not sure, maybe their websites would say)

mum's got the bero book - inherited it from her mil. I agree it's fab.
