What does your 1-2 year old DC have for breakfast?

DD (17 months) is really off her food. I'm not worried about it, but previously she would always eat a really good breakfast, whereas recently she's just not bothered (which is hard to believe as it will be served over 12hrs after her last feed... she's GOT to be hungry, right?)
Anyway, just wondering what you feed your DCs, just to give us some inspiration.

DS (26 months) has the same breakfast as us (we all eat together). We cant stand eating the same meal for breakfast so rotate & mix these foods (ensuring one carb & one protein & one dairy usually) to vary what we have:

  • Homemade granola with milk, yoghurt of cream and various fresh or dried fruits
  • Bacon
  • eggs (fried, boiled, or scrambled)
  • Sausages
  • Fresh fruit salad
  • Yohurts (plain or fruit)
  • Croissants
  • Toast
  • Fresh fruit juices
  • Crumpets
  • Bio Biz (organic weetabix type cereal) & milk
  • English Muffins
  • Cheese
  • Salami & similar cold meats
  • Pancakes with various fillings (sugar & lemon, apple, cheese & mushrooms etc)
  • Fried mushrooms

Some days he wolfs it down & then starts looking hungrily at our plates & others he barely touches his food. Sometimes it depends on how soon after his morning bf we sit down to eat & other days he just doesnt seem to want anything. I definately find its better to look at the weekly rather than the daily intake where littlies are concerned - always looks much healthier & better balanced!

Blueberries. But that's all he (12 months) will eat most of the day! Sometimes strawberries, dry cheerios (won't eat cereal w/ milk), full fat yoghurt, toast with butter, croissants, bagels (cinnamon raisin).

It's been v helpful to read through this discussion, so thanks to everyone for you great brekkie ideas.

My 20 month old usually has porridge or muesli, sometimes with chopped fruit. Then she usually eats some of my toast. What about eggy bread? DD loves this.

Cool! Lots of great advice. She ate her toast today, maybe she just wants to be like us?
Can I come for breakfast at your house, Terramum?

TooTicky- I'm not sure banana is 'officially' a poo stopper, but if that's not DD's problem, then I'm not sure what is...

DS has two weetabix every morning with milk - he loves it! Sometimes he will follow it with some of my toast or half a banana. Then he tends to pick on food through the day, never really having a lunch because he just isn't hungry and then has a massive dinner of spaghetti or fishfingers and smiley faces, something like that. I usaed to really stress about him not eating full meals anymore, especially after he turned 1, but now I jsut try and go with the flow and its working, and he is fit and healthy and now nearly 16 months.
