I keep coming across recipes that require a food processor. I have a good blender and a little chopper (for onions etc). Do I need a food processor? Is it different? Which is a good one?

Food processors are good for large quantities of heavy-duty chopping and mixing. I last used mine to make a meatloaf which involved chopping/mixing 1.5kgs of ingredients. You can achieve the same thing with elbow grease, a large knife and a big bowl but a processor takes the hard work out of it. I have a Magimix which are expensive but very good build quality

I second a magimix, they are bloody brilliant.

I use mine for chopping or slicing large quantities of veg very quickly for soups or stir fry or whatever. I pretty much never chop onions by hand anymore. I buy (cheaper) blocks of cheese and grate the lot then bag it up.

It does jobs fast but you certainly can do it yourself. :)

I just bought a Russell hobbs processor for. £35. In asda- it's brilliant. Just as good as the ken wood chef it's replacing which cost lots more ( but I would buy a magi mix if I could afford it )
