Casserole left out at room temperature overnight - I will die if I eat it, won't I?

Numpty DP said he'd put the leftover beef casserole in fridge before he went to bed, but when I came downstairs it was still left on the side in our kitchen.

Terrible things will happen if I reheat a bowl and have it for my lunch won't they?

Answers most appreciated.

Freshly cooked last night and left out for less than 24 hours? In current not-so-warm weather if yours is anything like mine? Sounds fine.

A casserole's cooked to buggery in the first place.

WhispersOfWickedness · 26/09/2014 12:16

I would eat it, just make sure it is well heated Smile

senua · 26/09/2014 12:16

Of course terrible things won't happen. Give it a good blast in the microwave and all will be well.

It will be fine. If you want to be careful simmer it for 5 minutes before eating. Add liquid if it's dry.

4merlyknownasSHD · 26/09/2014 12:18

What a load of twaddle. It will be perfectly OK, and probably would be if you left it out all day as well. I wouldn't do that with Chicken (all day I mean) but provided you heat it up properly in the oven, or nuke it in the microwave you would be most unlikely to have a problem.

PearlsAndLace · 26/09/2014 12:20

It will still be fine to eat.

JanineStHubbins · 26/09/2014 12:21

No, you won't die. I never refrigerate things like that - builds the immune system!

KneeQuestion · 26/09/2014 12:24

It will taste even better for being left out all night!

Nuke it in the microwave.

PuppyMonkey · 26/09/2014 12:25

Thank you most kindly you are all fabulous!

Just waiting for the microwave to go ping now Grin

You do realise you now have to come back to update us that you weren't ill, just to make us feel justified in our answers WinkGrin

Yes. Yes, you will. You will die a slow and agonizing death. You will liquify from the inside and excrete your bodily organs through your skin. The pain will be so great you will curse your parents for having you. You will curse your grandparents for having your parents.

I cooked a lovely beef stew last night to use a piece of beef shin up. I left it sitting on the cooker. Dh and I ate it tonight. It was bloody lovely and we are absolutely fine. Hope yours was as nice as mine. Grin

No happens here quite often. Stew and spag bol are left in the cooler pantry on purpose, too.

No ill effects in many years.
