A young hen, less than a year old.

Kelly1978 · 26/09/2006 18:35

bread and pullet refers to fried young chicken isn't it?

Carmenere · 26/09/2006 18:35

A rooster without balls? or is that a capon?

Quadrophenia · 26/09/2006 18:36

I have no idea, it was always my dads response to whats for dinner?

iota · 26/09/2006 18:37

I believe that "bread and pull it" is a word-play re tightening your belt when there's nothing much to eat

kellywellyboots · 26/09/2006 19:02

i think its prob the hen thing. was an option to choose under 'eggs' on a farm veggie box website.

but i quite like the bread and pull-it thing

Yes, it's a young hen (female) and usually at the 'point of lay' i.e. just about getting started!!! Sometimes the eggs they lay have no yolks - excellent for a celeb omellette I imagine.
