I've got a chicken in the fridge that I haven't gotten round to using yet. It was use by yesterday.

Should I risk it and use it for dinner today, or should I bin it?

I'm normally really fussy about this sort if thing, but I'm getting so sick of all the waste!!

does it smell? I had the same situation recently and the chicken didn't smell, looked fine I cooked it, no problems. Chicken does have a particular odour when its off, or on it's way to off.

I turf a lot of food too. Everything seems to go off so quickly.

oooh, not chicken. And not pork. If it was beef or lamb I definately would.

Is it a free range or normal? Free range tend to be less germy, I believe.

It's just an ordinary chicken. I'll get it out and have a "sniff" then decide.

Thanks

Dh bought quail (?!) a couple of weeks ago. They were tucked at the back of the fridge because I didn't know what to do with them. In the end I decided to roast them but saw the expirary date had passed and decided not to risk it. Think though I was just relieved at not having to cook something that would probably end up a flop.
