I had to get in touch with Silverwood recently (the company that makes the lovely silver coloured pans that Delia recommends) and they past on to me a great tip for greasing bread tins.

This is what they said;

Simply blend together an equal weight of lard, butter and plain flour, preferably in an electric blender, then "paint" the resulting creamy liquid onto your pan, add your bread dough and bake in the usual way. After use, wash in warm soapy water. Any excess pan-grease can be stored in the fridge for a month or two.
After the first couple of uses, the pan-grease will have built-up on your pan and will probably not be required again.

I would think that this would work on any type of tin and not just Silverwood.

I am a keen bread maker and I am looking forward to trying this out.

I should imagine it would work on cakes,too.

Hope this helps anyone who might be interested.

Lard would be great, but not for everyone (for obvious religious reasons and for vegetarians/vegans) but Trex is perfectly OK to use.

I meant, of course, to use Trex instead of lard, along with the butter and plain flour in the mix given above.
