Making trees

Been googling this and haven't seen anything that would be sturdy enough do I was wondering what people recommend? Am making a zip wire cake soon and need to make 2 trees to stitch god wire to, one at the top of a hill and one at the bottom. I've made small trees before but need something that wouldn't collapse and look like tree trunks.... Saw some that are made with modelling chocolate and then green fondant for leaves but I've never used modelling choc before.

Are you hanging anything from the suspended wire? If so, I'd make a wire armature and cover it in fondant or modelling choc to make the trees. If you're not, then modelling choc (or a modelling choc/fondant mix) would be ok. It's very easy to make modelling choc, search for the Craftsy Lauren Kitchens video on YouTube on how to make it, it gives you a recipe and instructions. You just have to be aware that it's got to be kept cool, so if you knead/handle it a lot, it'll go soft and you need to put it in the fridge for a few minutes to harden up again.

Hi, yes planning on a figure, but I kind of thought it would be quite heavy for it so was just going to sit figure on cake to. I will search out that link, thanks so much Smile
