is it ok to give cooked corned beef with carrots and potato to a nine month old?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 24/09/2006 20:56

Too salty, IMO.

Mum2FunkyDude · 24/09/2006 20:57

NOOOOO!!!!!!!
Look at the additives and salt content, unless you prepared it yourself and knows the content!

Rhubarb · 24/09/2006 20:58

dunno really, I probably would but then I give my kids sausage rolls in their buggies followed by fruit shoots so I'm not the one to ask!

Rhubarb · 24/09/2006 20:59

maybe you could buy organic corned beef? Can you do that? There's a niche in the market if you can't!

Organic spam too!

Thomcat · 24/09/2006 21:02

Why would you give corned beef to anyone? don't do it, I implore you. Sorry, I just want to be sick when i think of corned beef. It's all fake and fatty. Ewwwwww

Thomcat · 24/09/2006 21:04

Sorry, I said all that in the nicest possible way but that might not come across in a post. But don't give it to him anyway!

mawbroon · 24/09/2006 22:05

I agree with hunker - too salty. I've never found a tin which lists the salt content on it which is bit of a giveaway I think.

quanglewangle · 24/09/2006 22:08

I love corned beef if only to see the look on my evil snobby bil's face

But probably very unsuitable for a baby.

moondog · 24/09/2006 22:09

I would.Nowt wrong with corned beef.

controlfreaky2 · 24/09/2006 22:14

errr. you are mistaken md. absolutely nowt right with corned beef.

suejoneziscalmernow · 24/09/2006 22:15

Far too salty (and I LIKE corned beef)

milge · 24/09/2006 22:17

What a grim thought.

moondog · 24/09/2006 22:20

I started a long thread about CB a while back.
Will search.....

aitch71 · 24/09/2006 22:21

oooh, nothing better than a white bread sandwich with corned beef, real butter and tomato chutney. not for babies though, i'd have thought.

hunkermunker · 24/09/2006 23:36

You do know what "corned" means, MD?

Look here - and try not to barf at the first photo down - and I speak as someone who eats the stuff sometimes!

NotAnOtter · 24/09/2006 23:37

told mumsnet we needed a vomit emotion

colditz · 25/09/2006 00:05

It's luvverly - not for babies though. All for me. Spread on toast with lettuce and tomato, like a BLT!

moondog · 25/09/2006 09:31

Yes,I do know Hunker.
What's wrong with a bit of salt?
That sarnie looks great.

hunkermunker · 25/09/2006 09:34

For a 9mo? Too much IMO - even though I'm v lax about salt in general.

hunkermunker · 25/09/2006 09:34

(And I thought you'd know btw )

moondog · 25/09/2006 09:35

Yes,but we're not doing about a big feck off wodge-just mixed with a bit of potato.
Mmm,.smashing.

puff · 25/09/2006 09:38

Nooooo - saw a programme about it being made once - eek

moondog · 25/09/2006 09:40

I'm not having it!
No way!
It's meat and salt.
That's it!

iota · 25/09/2006 09:50

aha moondog - so you have come down in favour of corned beef after that thread - it's not "satan's dung"

moondog · 25/09/2006 09:51

lol,yes indeed i have.
Have always had a silent but strong liking for CB.
Yes,I'm out and proud.
