Cauliflower cheese- reheating

Cat2014 · 12/09/2014 07:41

If I make a cauliflower cheese today and need to heat it up for dinner what's the best way to do this please? Oven on a low temp? How long would a pre cooked cauliflower cheese for 4 take in the oven? We will be tight for time later so I want to plan! Thanks.

From experience, microwave works very well. I'd start it at 1.5 mins per portion, then prod and renuke if it's not quite there yet.

But if you had the oven on anyway (or wanted a crispy gratin on top), 180 C for 20-30 mins should do the trick nicely, depending on "thickness".

Thanks very much. I hadn't even thought of the microwave!

Yes MW and give yourself a good ten minutes if you have a lot in a Pyrex dish and it's been in the fridge.

Pyrex absorbs MW too, I find it takes a good 5-7 minutes of heating (10 minutes with heat it find only the dish is hot, heat it again faffing).

And your making me hungry, I love CFC

Thank you.
I'm getting better at cooking (from complete novice level) but still have no clue on reheating stuff and am always terrified of poisoning us!

"Piping hot" is always the guideline.

Fish a bit out from the middle, test it against the back of your finger or your lip (or wherever you find is temperature sensitive without being fingertip sensitive). It should be as hot as you could bear to eat - that temperature where you think, "I'll maybe let that cool on the fork a sec".

In practice you'll often get away with a bit cooler than that - but if you're worried go for the hot end.

It's also fine to interrupt the reheating to test temperature. It's not like baking a cake where sudden cold blasts can ruin it.

Thanks! I'll give it a go :)
