Springform pans for "normal" cakes

Am in the middle of making comedy-huge quantities of carrot cake (birthday party tomorrow, panic panic panic). Have realised I haven't got enough normal tins to put it all in at once. Can I use springform tins? I can't see why not ...

I don't "do" cooking times - will be checking on them regularly, though. Obviously with a wide range of types of pans, they will all cook differently.

Hmm, must leave house at 1 or so, back at 1:30, so will probably put them on just before I go, so they won't burn, but will be ready before I have to leave at 2:45. Gah.

(Am slightly bricking it re: party tomorrow, avos not ripe, expect there will be far too much food, not sure who's coming, some people I don't know ...)

... but there will be cake, which is a Good Thing. And too much food surely better than not enough (means easy lunches of leftovers for the next week too)

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be fine. I think the stress is because there are people coming who I don't know. People who know me are used to the house, they're used to my way of doing things (e.g. if you want X, go get it then), etc etc.

This is all down to new-school worries I think, really.

Anyway, cakes are ready to go in oven, will pop them in before getting on bike to go get DS2.

Food is: cake, guacomole, refried beans, nachos, crudites, filo parcels. Probably overkill, think there will be only 40 people or something, and it's 2:30 to 4:30 so not lunch or anything. Ah well.

There is never any of this bloody cake left. Thinking about it, I think I did a double batch last year, and had none left then, too.

(Am doing a nut-free batch, and one batch with no icing, so dairy-allergic kid can have some. Some people coming are: a) refusing to eat egg, vegany stuff, b) not eating gluten c) vegetarian (lots).)

In answer to your cake tin question, I am of the "take a chance, bung it in the tin and should be ok" school of cookery. Works for me!

It's both parties - DS1 is 2 on Sunday, DS2 is 5 on Tuesday. Keeps me on my toes!

Bouncy castle, boycott on party bags, so party books instead. No idea how many kids are coming, frankly.

Hmm, I've worked out "why not" - if the cake sticks a bit, you can't work a knife around the bottom of it, because the edges of the bottom of a springform are slightly raised. Not the end of the world, by any means, but a small hitch.
