Cooked vegetables as snacks

Looking for healthier snacks. Not a fan of fruit, but was thinking of cooked vegetables as a healthy alternative. Does anyone have veggies for snacks? Ideally I wouldn't want to boil/steam them each time, so would cook a reasonable quantity and then what... reheat? Eat cold? Would it all turn into sogginess with no goodness in by the time I have messed around with it?

Ah ha, a cunning plan to get them to eat more of the good stuff! You could serve carrot sticks, cucumber, celery, peppers raw in thin slices. They keep well if you cover them with water and chill.

Serve with some dips - this sounds yukky but my little one loves it - sardines in tomato sauce mixed with cream cheese.

DS often takes precooked (steamed) broccoli, peas and carrots into school as snacks. Don't bother warming up eats frozen peas straight out the freezer at home

I think OP means for herself, not the DC?

I like raw carrots (cut into batons myself, not the pre-prepared bags), raw mangetout, raw runner beans.

For cooked veg, I agree with the PP who mentioned the individual steam bags.

Ah yes I did mean for me! My stepkids eat fruit like there is no tomorrow so no problems there, but I only like it in really hot weather. In winter I crave warm / stodgy things so a biscuit will always get picked over an apple!

The steam bags are a good idea, I will have a look at those.
