Mary Berry has a nice recipe for lemon hummus, it's on the BBC Food website

DH has a dietary intolerance to sesame, so I always use almond butter instead.

I don't really use a recipe, as such, but my homous contains about a tin of chickpeas (I actually cook my own in a big batch and freeze) a couple of tablespoons of olive oil, juice of a lemon, a couple of tablespoons of almond butter, a fat clove of garlic, salt and ground cumin. I thin it with a bit of water.

You can also use a jar of grilled red peppers and chuck those in (or grill and peel some yourself) to make a red pepper homous.

It's so easy to make, I always used to get a bit cross with DH when he would buy it from the supermarket - he knows better now, though! Wink

I don't usually put the almond butter I use as a substitute for tahini in red pepper homous, anyway. I'm sure your red pepper homous will be fine if you just leave the tahini out.

I usually just leave it out, but will have to try with peanut butter!
