Didn't know which section to post this but just wondered if anyone else is reading it or has read it. I'm halfway through it and finding it depressing but true. Now want to read her other books too.

Yes, I've read it and her first one - Shopped.

If you like Bad Food Britain, you'll really like Shopped, which I thought was much better. It made me really think about what I was buying and how.

If you can stand this level of depression (and never wanting to go near a supermarket again) Not on The Label by Felicity Lawrence is also excellent and eye-opening.

Don't do much supermarket shopping anyway and am lucky enough to be near a Booths which is one of the more ethical ones. I'm going to order Shopped from the library tomorrow so might go for Not on the Label too. Can stand the depression well more sadness really about our attitude to food in this country.

yeah

just about

couldn't really get through it, tbh, though I liked her other stuff. It doesn't seem that well written.

Would thoroughly reccomend the other two though.

at Booths. They're so good at local sourcing - I think one of the other two books has a whole piece about them.

Fillyjonk - agreed, I thought that Bad Food Britain was a bit of a cash-in on the success of Shopped, it feels like a very long newspaper article without a conclusion. However, not as bad as the William Black book about British food, which was so badly written that I couldn't get beyond page 25, despite the fact that I could bore for my country on the subject usually.

I agree with it being lacking in conclusions, I suppose I'm "enjoying" it as it's the first one of hers I've read. Definitely ordering Shopped tomorrow.
