bread in bread basket - liner wet or dry?

have started using the breadmaker less and the oven more.

have tin that is the perfect shape to use as bread 'basket'.
last first time have lined it with a damp kitchen towel and dusted with flour. result was very tasty and pretty but getting the dough out was messy. should I rather use a dry cloth? or nothing? oil?

oh and should the dough then be baked immediately or rest a bit before baking after tipping it out?

Dry, dusted with flour. No wonder it was messy getting it out if you used a damp cloth....do you not remember making glue with flour and water when you were a child?

Tip it out and then slash the top and pop in the oven straight away. If you put it on to a hot bake-stone or oven tray (already in the oven) with a bakers peel, you should get an immediate "bounce" from the hot stone, and it will continue to rise for the first few minutes after it hits the heat, before the crust begins to form.

getting better and better at it. but the bread keeps splitting at the bottom. maybe I need to score deeper?

...and may be more than one slit.
