I haven't made any of the recipes from this book and fancy trying something new.

Any particular recipes you'd recommend or avoid?

I've only tried one, the banh mi, and we loved it.
I need to try more, I can't stand him on the telly but I do love his recipes.

That's a photo of it from my pinterest.

DH did the rosti today, it ended up a bit burnt though. We might do the snake in a hole tomorrow!

Trampampoline · 09/07/2014 20:03

was it tasty Laura ?

Has anybody tried the roasted zombie brain celeriac thing? I really fancy it later in the year, when it's Autumn comfort food time.

LauraChant · 09/07/2014 20:04

The book I really love is 15 Minute Meals though. Clearly they take nowhere near 15 minutes but lots of the recipes are really yummy especially the fish tagine.

LauraChant · 09/07/2014 20:05

It was OK - not amazing!

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/07/2014 20:10

Yes, I did make the pate, I'm an adventurous cook, and eater.

Trampampoline · 09/07/2014 20:14

I love 15MM too. Great side dishes like the one the watercress, celery and apple salad - gorgeous!

Having a flick through SWJ now -the cauliflower cheese was nice. So was the beef rendang. Loads more I want to try!

ScreamingNotWaving · 09/07/2014 20:29

The hit n run chicken was ok but the salmon tacos were lovely.

Trampampoline · 09/07/2014 20:54

DH made the Italian sweet potato n chickpea stew and the spicy sausage cassoulette and they were Devine

I've done the Korean rice and not only is it nice it's really quick to make

sharond101 · 09/07/2014 22:20

the sausage cassoulet was superb

sharond101 · 09/07/2014 22:23

The Italian sweet potato and chickpea stew sounds lovely melliebobs, might need to buy the book for that.

melliebobs · 09/07/2014 22:55

It's quite light as well. When DH said he'd made it I thought hmmmm not really appropriate for this heat but it was scrummy. Never going to complain if DH has cooked

RubyGoat · 09/07/2014 22:59

We made the pot roasted beef brisket. It was beautiful. We mostly just had the leftover meat with freshly cooked veg & potatoes etc, or in sandwiches.

Judez99 · 09/07/2014 23:21

I've made the hit and run chicken traybake a couple of times and it's yum - so easy to prep and then just put in oven.

LauraChant · 10/07/2014 17:24

Snake in the hole - today's dinner. It does look more appetising in real life and not so much like a poo in a pan.

Cantdothisagain · 10/07/2014 17:29

The pork steamed buns are lovely... Ditto the Singapore noodles and the salmon tacos.

TheWordFactory · 10/07/2014 17:40

I've made the meatballs alla norma and thought they were good, but DC complained about the taste of fennel seeds (which I wouldn't usually add to meatballs).

DS made the chicken and chorizo paella, and everyone like that.

ABeautifulLie · 10/07/2014 19:32

My daughters and I loved the smoked mackerel carbonara and the pasta shells with peas and bacon. DH and DS enjoyed the carbonara too, but were not so keen on the pasta shells dish.

Trampampoline · 10/07/2014 20:37

mmmmm...poo in a pan...Grin How did it taste?

after all that, I decided on the chicken risotto, purely because I have left over chicken and some fresh chicken stock. So that will be Saturday's tea.

I looked at the brisket recipe - I thought it was supposed to be cheap! 16 quid for the 2kg piece required! Hmm

I guess if you can get two meals out of it it might be OK... (family of five).

I found it filling but not yummy
The four year old refused to eat it apart from the Yorkshire pudding
The six year old said suspiciously "what's this orange stuff?" but ate most if it.
DH claims he liked it
