I always do mine in the oven on 170 for around 2 hours, put olive oil on them but wrap them in baking parchment, otherwise they are rock hard rather than crispy. HTH!

Oven. Stab with a fork and rub with oil and salt. Whack them in (quite hot) for until the skin is crispy and the inside is soft. Sorry I don't use a timer :(

I can speak with some authority on this as I was a vegetarian as a child in the 80s and this meant that my confused carnivorous parents served me mainly jackets with cheese or frozen veggie lasagnes, both with iceberg lettuce centric salad. I quickly became an expert at cooking these dishes! Grin

Pierce some holes in...Wrap in foil and put at 250 degrees for 90mins.... Take out and put in a big bowl...coat in a glug of olive oil, salt and pepper, shake around in this mixture for a bit and the put potatoes, and excess oily mixture into a baking dish and stick back in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 mins. After 15 mins turn them over so the other side of the potato gets the heat.... Et voila! My DH assures me that my JPs are the best ever and that method has never let me down.

Can't beat a good, crispy jacket potato.

I have no idea why but jacket potatoes will go far more crispy if you stand them in a little water during cooking (just a few mm in the bottom of the baking dish) and replace the water whenever it dries up. Also don't forget to keep turning the potatoes. Saves on foil and olive oil (and calories too!).

I just bung them in the oven for about an hour and a half, always crispy.

I put a cross in the top to stop them exploding.
