Condemn me as my mother has just literally spat at the thought.
got some organic fruit at the farmers market
Making a lovely crumble for pudding, thought as the blackberries needed eating I'd pop them in with rhubarb in the crumble
My mother has declared me gastronimcally insane.
I have morning sickness, she is lucky I've cooked for her at all

So how bad on the richter food scale is my mix huh?

Copyright it before Nigel Slater featues it in the Autumn Observer Food supplement. It will be all the rage once it has been discovered!

LucyJones · 04/09/2006 18:36

I think it sounds yummy and very healthy

Greensleeves · 04/09/2006 18:36

your mother doesn't know she's born

I have made it before and jolly nice it was too by all accounts.

LIZS · 04/09/2006 18:37

Not a combination I'd have thought of .... in the circumstances she should be grateful though

Piffle · 04/09/2006 18:37

Good I can normally quickly file her comments into the cantankerous old witch file, but I was a little unsure on this one...

Both are quite sour tasting fruits, which is why your mother probably pulled a face. If I were her, I would put up and shut up!

Piffle · 04/09/2006 18:40

I am feeding it to a 3 yr old and 12 yr old as well.
I have added sugar, I might lace her portion with lactulose

blimey my mum always used to make rhubarb and bramble (I'm a northern lass - so we don't call 'em blackberries LOL) crumble - sugar added of course to make it sweet enough to eat, but yummy wiht LOTS of custard

lorina · 04/09/2006 19:03

Sounds lovely. Think I would be after seconds !

sugarfree · 04/09/2006 19:10

[devil's advocate]It is blackberry and APPLE or rhubarb and GINGER or STRAWBERRIES.Them's the rules I'm afraid. You can't just go about mixing up your crumble fruits willy nilly like that.See sense woman![/devil's advocate]

divamummy · 04/09/2006 19:15

LOL
I'm a kiwi after all
Well she ate two helping after all that
It was really nice
I had a dream about hitting her with a shoe last night, quite viciously, I think I have unearthed some deeper feelings
