To make a sourdough starter...

...all the recipes I can find say put it somewhere warm ,28 degrees or so, overnight or for 24 hrs.

Now, we don't have a boiler, or an aga, or any especially warm spots in the house.

Do I take it under the duvet with me or will it work at 18 degrees but just take 3 days instead???

Insights most welcome

we always just covered it with plastic wrap and put on the window sill in the sun....having a quick flick through my books about half say room temp and half say 80F - 90F (28Cish).

Sourdough is one of the things I really miss from the States.
