Sort out my holiday picnics for me please

Off to IoW for a week tomorrow and am ordering an online shop to be delivered to our accommodation. Money is tight, so we plan on picnicking most days. I just can't face a whole week of pb sandwiches on my holiday (our normal picnic standby).

Any super easy ideas I can steal without racking up the cost with poncey breads/cheeses/balsamic pearls? Wink

For two adults, a fussy beige food fanatic 3 year old and a wee but so far gastronomically adventurous baby of 8 months?

My DCs always enjoy cold sausages or cold hard boiled eggs. I sometimes have them with rolls or sometimes I can persuade them to eat something like Ryvita/crispbread type things with them.
There's always pasta salads - just throw in anything the kids will eat! But can be quite messy and hard to eat with little ones.
Cold pizza slices/cold quiche with carrot sticks/cucumber/cherry toms etc

Limit the 'PB', order a variety of rolls, pittas and wraps (not all that poncey) and stock up on a few more interesting fillings either ready-made or DIY... cooked meats, eggs , salad, hummus, cream cheese etc. Hellmans do some interesting squeezy mayonnaises in various flavours and a cheese sarnie is vastly improved with some Branston Pickle. Some bumper packs of crisps, apples, bananas, biscuits on the side. A feast! Say hello to the Needles for me. :)

some form of pasty?

get ready made puff pastry and make cheesy rolls/pasties, sausage rolls. Or use shortcrust if puff is too messy.

Tortillas are great too, the spanish kind made with tats, onions and eggs. delia does a great recipe. These are great hot or cold, and you can have a box of veggie stuff as an extra for non fussy adults and baby, baby toms, carrots, etc)' I would also invest in a cheese slicer, costs pennies and makes cheese go wayyyy further.

fritters are nice too, very transportable. a bit of relish/chutney for non fussy. Cauliflower/courgettes/sweet potato etc.

Pasta salad would work well if you don't use mayo based sauce, but a vinagrette style one.

Tuc biscuits with ready sliced cheese for minimum preparation.
Muller fruit corner yoghurts for dessert.
Carrot sticks, sugarsnap peas, cucumber and baby corn to dip in hummus.

Thanks, these are all great. Definitely going to do some pasty type affair and some cold omelettes. Cold bangers are great too.
