'Homely' recipes?

I am having a bit of a hard time settling into a house I have been in for about a year now. A few people suggested cooking recipes that make me feel at 'home', but I don't know what to start with. Can you suggest the recipes that you cook that make you feel 'at home'?

(Boast alert) I've just had part of my house redesigned including a completely new kitchen layout and it doesn't feel like 'mine' yet either. All the smells are wrong (plaster, paint, varnish) so I'm trying to 're-smell' the place by cooking bread, cakes, roast chicken, stuff with garlic and plenty of things involving bacon!

For me, a nice roast dinner, or beef stew & dumplings, or apple crumble, are things that make me feel I'm 'home'. But it really depends what makes you feel happy and settled.

After a year, I'm not sure that picking out a few recipes is going to make that much difference to how you feel. Maybe there are other things about the layout that aren't working for you?

Roast chicken or lamb with lots of rosemary, smells lovely coming from the oven :)

Homemade bread also.

A Victoria sponge cake, beef stew, rice pudding.

Simple dishes that take a lot of stirring

Roasts or casseroles -something where the smell permeates through the house (slow cookers are great for this) homemade soups, lemon drizzle cake

Was going to say slow cooker but have been beaten to it. But they are good for creating lovely smells to waft around the house all day (my dds complain that it makes them hungry all day though!).

Otherwise, bread / sponge cakes / jam roly poly / a lasagne.

Or get a huge vat of soup simmering on the hob, and install yourself with a book in the kitchen, pottering over to give it a stir and a sniff every now and then.

And buy lots of daffodils and fill the house with lots of jugs full of them!
