Adjusting temp for fan oven

Some recipes give 3 temperatures including one for fan ovens but if they only give 2 should I assume I need to adjust it for fan oven? Been getting a bit confused by this recently! Recipes in sainsburys and waitrose magazine only seem to have 2,

Yep - depending on your oven and the temperature, knock 20-30 degrees off. You might need to reduce cooking time, too. If I do a roast, it normally takes about 20% less time to cook.

I use the conventional oven setting for cakes, mind. They cook through a lot better without browning too much. Pastry works well with the fan, though, as it crisps up better.

I have a fan oven so I set it 20 degrees lower if the recipe only shows a temp for a conventional oven. I don't find mine cooks things any quicker though, so I stick to the timings given.

Yes 20 lower. For cakes I find they get overcooked quite quickly. It is worth checking (if a recipe book) as they normally say in the introduction if an adjustment is needed.
