Ideally ones children aged 2-5yo could do either with or without assistance as they're for our preschool cooking activity :)

So far I have:

  • decorating biscuits. Sweet ones with icing, sprinkles, etc but also savoury ones with cream cheese and chopped vegetables.
  • yoghurt sundaes. Plain yoghurt, fruit and so on layered in plastic 'glasses'.
  • fruit salad
  • homemade Playdoh, not for eating but they still get to measure and mix.

They all just seen a bit boring. I need inspiration :o

Could they do sandwiches on pre sliced bread with pre sliced cheese and ham and then cut them out with fancy cutters?

Or you could do a 'caterpillar'. French loaf, pre-sliced by you, almost down to the base. They squidge cream cheese and salady bits into the slices and then you make a face and feelers with bits of salad, and put the caterpillar on a bed of lettuce.

You could buy wraps and put grated cheese and salad bits on them then roll them up and cut into rounds.

Could you melt chocolate in a microwave and they stir in the krispies and spoon them onto baking paper to make Easter nests?

Sandwiches! I never even thought of that. Thank you :o

Guacamole is good. Just squeezing the ingredients between your fingers a lot!

Oooh, that would cross over into our messy play requirement too :)

mine used to like doing sandwich spirals.

Spread a slice of bread with jam, nutella, cream cheese or whatever (you can use non-sticky fillings, but they don't stay together as well). Cut crusts off then roll up tightly like a swiss roll. Cut thin slices off which are also good bite sizes.

You could also put a bit of double cream in a clean jar and have them shake it until it turns to butter. Quite impressive and they can eat it too.

(Glow in the dark jelly and separating eggs with a plastic bottle here too:

Eton mess (shop bought meringue, pre chopped fruit etc)

Dipped strawberries/other fruit - pre-melt some dark, milk and white chocolate and let them dip away and leave to set!
