I know people who swear by them - I don't use mine as much as I should. I find the bread tastes better if you make the dough in the machine then bake it in the oven, but other people seem to have no problem. Apparently the one to go for is the Panasonic that Lakeland Ltd sell - it always comes top in things like Which & Good Housekeeping (I bought a Breville).

V good to make pizza dough base in - you can then have healthy convenience food and get kids involved in choosing/throwing on the toppings.

Yep, love mine. I have a Morphy Richards breadmaker and it is fab. The loaves are very small though, at least for us as there are 6 of us...

I didn't find it very good for pizza base though.

We use the panasonic from Lakeland. we run a B&B and use it twice a day every day but use it also when we don't have guests in. The bread is better and works out cheaper. I know whathas gone in to my bread and can make different recipes. The chees and bacon bread toasted is great. Loads of recipes great for kids as they can put the ingredienst in and see something come out. My tip for the panasonic always do white bread on the rapid setting.

yes i would recomend gettign one, especially as they are already saying the the cost of bread is going to go up as the cost of wheat is going up due to the lack of rain.

Like housemum i use mine to make to dough then give the second rise and cook ing the oven i find this give a better crust.

I make a fruit loaf which get eaten as soon as it's cool enough to eat.

I've got the Panasonic one too and haven't bought a loaf since I had it last October as the bread's so good. It also does great raisin bread, French bread and pizza is ever so easy. (You can get it cheaper than Lakeland though, I think my sis got mine from Amazon).

I too have a Panasonic, which always comes out best in the tests (eg Good Housekeeping). You can make so many varieties of bread with it. Think how nice it will be to wake up to the smell of newly baked bread!

Yep, swear by it. I have a Morphy Richards Fastbake which I got for Xmas 2001 (cost about £60) and I have used it on average 2-3 times a week since, often to make pizza - it's one of those gadgets that gets used all the time as opposed to never!

My advice is: make sure you get one that's the right size for your family (mine is the smaller size - makes 1lb and 1 1/2 1b loaves, and would probably be too small if there are 4 of you or 3 with healthy appetites). Also make sure you get one with a fastbake setting as sometimes you don't want to wait 3 hours.

From what I remember of the Which? tests when I got mine, different ones come out top in tests for different kinds of bread (some better for wholemeal, others for white etc) so it might be worth checking that out and getting whichever one suits the kind of bread you prefer best.
